La Dana fishing

One day La Dana went fishing with his father. They took with them fishing rods, bait and bundles of rice.

We came to the Sadan River and cast our fishing rods. It’s just a strange thing - my father gets the bite all the time, but La Dana has no luck, and that’s all! His fish didn’t even touch the bait. He felt annoyed and hid his eyes in shame. He changed places and threw the fishing rod in every way - it didn’t bite!

Finally La Dana said to his father:

“They say there are a lot of evil spirits here, they often rob fishermen.” If on the way home you meet a shaggy evil spirit with a leaky eye, you better give him all the fish. And I’ll probably go to another pool: here, apparently, there are very well-fed fish.

In fact, he went into the forest. There he wrapped himself in palm fiber and glued the eyelids of one eye with tree sap. So he looked like an evil spirit, then sat down on the edge of the path where his father was supposed to pass. When he appeared on the path, La Dana rose to meet him. The father thought: this evil spirit came for the fish - he threw his catch and started to run. La Dana changed clothes, picked up the fish and went home. At home, his father told him about his meeting. “It’s good that I didn’t come across this spirit,” La Dana sighed with relief. “If I had met him, he would probably have taken my catch too.” True, I had great luck at the first pool, but when I moved to another place, the real bite began! Look, how many fish I caught!

The mother began to fry fish. The father ate it with everyone else and did not suspect that in front of him was his own catch.
