The kayaks sailed from Chaplino to Alkhatvam to hunt sea animals. Then they sailed back, only one family remained with the Chukchi, who gave the Eskimos clothes and food.
One winter, the kids were playing with deer on the street. The Eskimo boy was a deer - he held deer antlers above his head and quickly ran along the onet, while the others threw a lasso onto the antlers. Kutvirit's little brother was not caught on the horns. The ring hit the Eskimo boy painfully, and he burst into tears and said:
- Wait, my uncle will come from Chaplino in the fall - he will kill your brother Kutvirit!
At this time, Kutvirit was on the street and heard everything. The next day he took the Eskimo boy aside and began to ask:
- Tell me, what did you say to my brother yesterday?
- I don't remember! - said the boy.
- Which uncle will come here?
- None.
“I’ll give you a white jacket and white trousers.”
- I don’t know any uncle.
“The other day I rode around two beautiful little reindeer in a small sled. - Saw.
- Did you like it? - Very.
- Well, they will be yours if you tell me who will come here and why.
- Aren’t you going to deceive me?
“Kutvirit has never deceived anyone yet.”
“Uncle the hero will come at the end of summer, he will fight you, and you will no longer be strong.” Uncle doesn't like other strong people, he doesn't want anyone else to be strong.
Kutvirit gave the boy deer and white clothes.
Kutvirit was young, he was ashamed to prepare for the meeting of the hero. Secretly from everyone, he carried large stones to high hills and descended from there with them, and became stronger every day.
Then his father heard that the Eskimo hero. will come to fight Kutvirit. Father and uncle began to think about what to do. The uncle ordered not to let Kutvirit sleep and to force him to work and work. His father said that it was better to load him with weights and drive him to the hills. And so that he doesn’t deceive, we need to check: keep an eye on him both on the hill and below.
When the reindeer went to the tundra in the spring, Kutvirit went with the herd. The herd left the yaranga for two days. Kutvirit wanted to go home and take away the meat. The uncle also released one young shepherd, stabbed a deer, and cut it in half.
They took half the carcass on their shoulders and left. But as soon as the herd disappeared from sight, Kutvirit said:
- Listen, friend, give me your half and sit on your shoulders yourself, but keep quiet about it!
The guy sat on Kutvirit's shoulders, on top of the deer, and Kutvirit rushed across the tundra like the wind. The shepherd dozed at first, and then fell asleep.
When the camp became visible, Kutvirit woke up his comrade, and they came home before sunset. The father asked where the herd was and could not believe that his son had covered this distance in one day. Kutvirit went back, and as soon as the camp was out of sight, Kutvirit again put his comrade on his shoulders and rushed off, and again the shepherd slept on his shoulders. Only not far from the herd did Kutvirit wake him up, and they came together to the herd. Uncle did not believe that they had already gone home. But where is the deer? And Kutvirit has new shoes!
Time has passed, soon there will be a full moon, and the herd is moving home.
An Eskimo hero arrived on a canoe, bringing walrus and bearded seal skins and many different belts. The hero did not enter any yaranga, but set up his own.
Here comes the herd. Kutvirit asked his father:
- He came to me, it seems?
- Yes, to you! I saw him, it’s better not to mess with him. I told you, stay with me, I wanted to join the herd.
- Kalyukim minkri! “There’s nothing you can do now,” said the son.
The Eskimo hero is looking - where is the strong man Kutvirit?
They showed it to him and he said:
- Eh, eh! It seems that I came completely in vain. Kutvirit came up and asked:
-Have you come to see me?
“Yes,” the hero answered lazily, “to you and for the holiday.”
The Eskimo hero put on a torbaz and pants made of seal skin, and Kutvirit put on kamus trousers and a torbaza. They went out into a large circle, and Kutvirit’s fingers left marks on the Eskimo’s body, like those of a knife. The Eskimo swung his leg and wanted to hit Kutvirit in the chest, but Kutvirit hit him in the sole - and the Eskimo flew far off head over heels. He sat there and called Kutvirit:
- Come sit with me. I can’t come to you - my leg is broken. You are stronger than me! I spent ten days swinging the lower jaw bone of a whale in my hands, but you are younger and stronger. I leave you my walrus and bearded seal skins and belts as a gift.
“I’ll load you with a full canoe of meat and reindeer skins and I’ll row the canoe myself to Anadyr,” said Kutvirit.
Many, many years have passed. The descendants of Kutvirit gathered at Lake Pikulneyskoye near Maino-Pylgino. Kutvirit once brought a stone here from distant hills, placed it on the path, and said:
- Let people remember that there was once Kutvirit. And then the hero Al-al was born again in the tundra, and people said: he is strong, like Kutvirit. He traveled all over the tundra - he fought in Olyutorka, he fought in Anadyr, he fought in Pol-pol, and everyone said: “Al-al is strong, like Kutvirit.”
But the hero Al-al did not want someone else’s name, and called the people of the tundra and the descendants of Kutvirit, and wanted to throw a stone into the lake and drown the name of Kutvirit with it. But he only lifted the stone from the ground to his knee. And then the strength of the hero Al-al ran out, and the stone fell to its original place. Since then, Al-al was not called a hero, and no one compared him to Kutvirit.
