One peasant had a stupid wife. One day he found a large pot of gold, and his wife foolishly told the master about the money. The master tells the peasant to appear the next day with a pot of gold at the estate.
- Oh, I wish you were empty! - the peasant scolds and racks his brains on how to get out of trouble. Finally he came up with an idea: he told his wife that, they say, this afternoon we should expect a cackling war. OK.
The wife heard about this and was scared to death:
- What, a cackling war? My God!
“What’s with the “oh my god!”,” her husband answers. “If you sit in a potato hole, I’ll cover you with skin, and you’ll survive.”
- Oh, hubby, how are you?
- Don’t worry about me, I’ll fight!
So the husband took his wife into a hole, covered him with dried cow skin, sprinkled peas on top and released the chickens on it. The chickens started a fight on the skin, the noise is like a war; and the husband grabbed a stick and started hitting the corners - just to make more noise. Finally he released his wife and said:
- Get out, the cackling war is over.
In the morning the peasant harnesses his horse, puts his wife in front of him on the cart and goes to the master.
And on the way, the husband slowly pulled a pretzel out of his pocket and threw it over his wife’s shoulder right into her lap. She asks:
- Where is this from?
- What a fool you are! So, after all, we have already reached the time when buns fall from the sky.
They move on. There was a barn near the road with a goat bleating in it. The wife asks:
- Who's yelling there?
- And you don’t know that. What a fool! There the devil is tormenting our master!
We arrived at the estate, the master asks:
-Where is the money?
- What kind of money? - the peasant is amazed.
-Are you still going to pretend? Your wife herself said that you found a pot of gold.
- So ask your wife, how should I know? The master calls his wife to him:
- Tell me, when did your husband find the money?
- Yes, it seems like a week before the cackling war.
- When was such a cackling war?
- Yes, it’s like when buns fell from the sky.
- What fell? When did it fall?
- Yes, like when the devil tormented you in the barn. I felt so sorry for you! You were yelling like a goat in a voice that was not your own.
“Go to hell, you crazy one!” the master yelled at her and kicked them both out of the gate.
With this cunning the peasant saved the found treasure.
