The Black God learned about the birth of Kolyada. He was very upset, because great troubles were predicted for him from the son of Dazhbog. He made Dazhbog lose his magic ring and lose his strength.
And the Black God cooled Dazhbog’s heart, imprisoning it in ice. And Maya again went to Nav, as was destined, for she returned from the kingdom of death only to give birth to the god Kolyada. Therefore, she sent Kolyada in a basket along the waters of the Currant to Iriy to the god Khors and Zarya-Zarenitsa.
Horse got up early and went to the Smorodina River to wash himself with clean water and pray to the Almighty. And Khors found a basket near the shore, shining with heavenly light. There was no gold or silver in that basket, but there was a golden-haired child in it.
And here is joy in heaven and on earth. In Irin, the god Kryshen is Kolyada. In Iria, he was found again by the sorcerers-kolezhans. They came guided by the guiding Star. Gate to Iriy Star. The gates to Iriy were opened to the Kolezhans by the Heavenly Deer. And they entered, praising Kolyada, Khors, Zarya, Maya and Dazhbog.
That is why even now, during the celebration of Kolyada, carolers, like the wise men who followed the Star, walk around the courtyards and look for Kolyada, and when they find him, they sing:
We walked, we looked for the holy Kolyada in heaven and on earth... And we found him in the bright Iria! As in the first tower - the Red Sun, in the second tower - frequent stars, in the third tower - the clear Dawn "Book of Kolyada", X 6
The Kolezhans saw that baby Kolyada was in the arms of Zari-Zarenitsa. Nearby on a silver bench is Horse. Horse has a golden beard and mustache. Zari-Zarenitsa has light brown curls, scattering silver over her shoulders.
Horse and Zarya seated the fellows at the table. On the richly decorated table, the villagers saw three cups - the first with Surya honey, the second with Khoma beer, and the third with Abrita. He drank Surya from the Khors cup, Khoma from Zarya-Zarenitsa, and Abrit from Kolyada.
Horse had three windows in his mansion. The Red Sun entered one, the bright Moon entered the second, and frequent Rain entered the third.
The guests began to argue about which of them was more important. The sun said that it is higher than all, since it illuminates the mountains, valleys and seas. The moon said that it is more important because it shines at night when nothing is visible. And Rain said that he is more important, for he sprinkles the crops and fields, and therefore bread grows, and the firemen brew beer.
- No, above all of you is the Great God! Kolyada is the son of Vyshnya-Dazhbog! - the loitering objected. - He will say to the Sun: “Shine!” The sun is shining. He will tell the Moon - he will shine. He will say to the Rain: “Rain, wet the Mother Earth so that rye and wheat will be born!” And blessed rain will come from heaven! Be glorified God Kolyada!
And at this time, Chernobog Kashchei was raging in the Dark Kingdom. He gathered all the Dasun demons to think about how to destroy the young god Kolyada with them. And then Kashchei said to the old woman Putana:
- Turn into a young maiden, fly to Iriy and destroy young Kolyada! Let his bones become dust, let the black wind scatter them!
The witch Putana became angry, she poured the wine into a golden cup and mixed poison into the wine. She flew to Iriy and stood up with a bowl for the meal.
- I came and brought wine to the young son of Dazhbog! Let him drink wine from the cup.
- Kolyada, our god, young man! - the college people answered her. “It’s too early for him to drink wine.” Dip your chest in wine, Putana. Milking the young god's breasts!
The prostitute dipped her breast in wine, took Kolyada in her arms, and brought him the breast with the poison. Kolyada kissed Putana's breast, sucked out all the milk, and along with the poison, Putana's life. The prostitute then turned into an old woman and fell, spreading her legs and opening her fanged mouth. And everyone was horrified when they saw the terrible body of the witch.
Her teeth are black stones, her nostrils are in the rocks of a cave, her breasts are hills, and her hair is bushes, her hips are two mountain ranges, her hands are bridges over the abyss, and her belly is a dried-up sea. Then Dawn picked up Kolyada, and Horse threw Putana to the ground. And the kingdom of Kashchei shook.
Then Kashchei sent the demon Bosorkun to Iriy, who turned into a Black Stork. That Stork was huge, he covered the whole world with his wings. The Stork flew onto Kolyada and swallowed him. But feeling a burning sensation in his throat, he spat out Kolyada and tried to peck at it. But Kolyada grabbed the Stork by the beak and tore it apart, as easily as if a child were tearing a blade of grass.
Having learned about the death of the Stork, Kashchei became even more angry. He sent the Dragon Hala to Iriy. Hala flew in and opened his mouth.
He dragged along the ground with one lip, touching faces with the other. His jaws were like gorges, his teeth were like mountain peaks, “The Book of Kolyada”, X 6
The dragon immediately swallowed all the guests from the village and Kolyada. As soon as Kolyada found himself in the dragon’s mouth, he immediately began to grow. He rose above the mountains and clouds. He began to choke the Dragon, and in the end he tore him into pieces.
The legend about Kolyada's natural and adoptive parents (first Dazhbog and Zlatogorka - then Khors and Zarya) repeats the plot of the legend about Krishna (and he is rescued from his adoptive parents). Slavic legends about Kryshpa-Kolyada largely coincide with Indian Vedic legends about Krishna-Kalkin. Compare the text from the “Veda of the Slavs” about Mora-Yuda and Kolyada and the legend about Putana (in Russian the name of this witch became the nickname of the libertines) and Krishna from the 10th song of the “Srimad-Bhagavatam”.
Mora-Yuda stood up, forged, as if no one had seen her, and took that golden cup, the one with red wine, three years old wine, and in that wine there were herbs, there were poisonous herbs. She gives that cup (...) may the little one perish from the poison of a fierce heart! (...) Mora Yuda Mora-Yuda Samovil said: “I will cut the little child apart! ..."But the clouds descended here, from the sky about clouds and darkness, and that cave was covered. (...) God is beating that Mora Yuda...Golden Maikada began to think in that holy cave, she said to the young God: "God, my Son, you go and take that Golden Book, and teach the young men, boys and red maidens! Original and translation from “Veda of the Slavs” Sh 12 420-523
Putana entered Gokula without permission... Having turned into a beautiful woman, she crossed the threshold of the house.... Placing the baby on her lap, Putana put the nipple of her breast, anointed with a terrible poison, into His mouth. She hoped that as soon as He took her breast into His mouth, He would die. However, little Krishna, quickly and angrily grabbing the nipple, drank the poisoned milk along with the witch’s life air. "The Source of Eternal Pleasure" by Swami Prabhupada
