Just as Kryshen met the daughter of the Sun Ra, Rada, many thousands of years ago, so Kolyada met the daughter of Khors, the granddaughter of Ra, Radunitsa Khorsovna.
- Rainbow, sweet maiden! - exclaimed Kolyada. -You are more beautiful than the Red Sun, and brighter than the clear Moon!
Radunitsa also liked Kolyada. And she told him that Khors would give her in marriage to the one who wins the competition: whoever gallops around the sea first will receive his daughter Radunitsa as his wife.
Kolyada decided to participate in the competition, because there was no one in the whole world faster than his Golden-maned horse. Kashchei also learned about the races, and also came from the Dark Kingdom. As the Red Sun rose, the horsemen galloped along the seashore. But no matter how hard Kashchei urged his horse, Kolyada was ahead.
- Oh, you, young Kolyada! - Kashchei shouted. - Why don’t you feel sorry for the horse - he won’t survive the race like that!
Kolyada reined in his horse - and Kashchei took the lead, but then Golden-Mane overtook him again. And again Kashchei shouted to Kolyada that he had given the horse a break.
- You, Kashchei, will not deceive me! - answered Kolyada. - My horse gallops and waves its mane! Can my Golden-maned horse gallop around the entire Universe!
So Kolyada galloped up first.
-Is it tricky to measure against horses? - Kashchei was indignant. - We’d better measure the strength! Whoever outpowers whomever in a fight will marry the girl!
They began to fight with swords, their blades broke off. “Let Radunitsa judge us,” suggested Kashchei, “let her give a fragment of the blade to the one who loves her more.”
And Radunitsa gave a piece of the blade to Kolyada, and soon they got married. And then we went to Iriy to Khors and Zara-Zarennets. The bird Gamayun carried Kolyada and Radunitsa across the high mountains on its wings.
And to Kolyada and Radunitsa a son was born - the god Radogost.
