A long time ago, an old man lived in a certain village. He was a poor man. I never had land, a horse, or good clothes. He had a little son named Kokaychik. The time has come for the old man to die. He called the boy to him and said:
- Remember, Kokaychik! When I die, you can go wherever you want. Just don't go to the garden on the other side of the mountain. - He said and died.
Kokaychik was left an orphan. He went down many different paths. But he never looked into the garden that his father told him about. And one day it occurred to him: “Let me see these places!” “Apparently the boy forgot his father’s order and went to this garden.”
He crossed the mountain and saw that there were fruit trees all around, apples, pears, and plums were ripening...
“That's it! - thought Kokaychik. “Such a nice garden, and my father forbade me to go here!” Climbed the tallest apple tree and let's eat apples. He chooses the reddest and ripest ones!
Suddenly, out of nowhere, an evil black woman appeared in front of him.
[Emegensha is a fairy-tale evil giantess.]
- Hey, little man, hey, stupid little man! What are you doing here in my garden? – she screamed in a terrible voice.
– Don’t you see what I’m doing? – Kokaychik was surprised. - I eat apples!
“Come on,” says the cunning lady, “I have an apple, not from this one, but from that tall apple tree.”
Kokaychik wanted to jump from one apple tree to another and fell right into the hem of the emegensha.
- Yeah, stupid little man! Gotcha! I caught you in time. My poor children are dying of hunger. - And the emegensha dragged Kokai-chik to her house.
“Here, kids,” she says to her son and daughter, “now I’ll prepare lunch for you!”
The emegensha sent her children for a walk, poured water into a large cauldron, and dumped Kokai-chika from the hem directly into the cauldron.
She lit a hot fire.
Kokaychik swims in the cauldron and feels how quickly the water is heating up, it’s getting hotter, so much so that it’s impossible to stand it!
Meanwhile, the emegen woman ran out of firewood, and she went into the yard to get it. Kokaychik jumped out of the water (the cauldron was boiling!) and threw the clothes of the little emegens, the cubs of the emegens, into the boiling water instead.
Kokaychik had only just managed to climb into the attic and hide when the emegen’s wife returned with an armful of firewood. She threw some logs on the fire, sat there, waiting for Kokaychik to cook. Some time passed, she took a ladle and began to taste the soup. She scooped it up and pulled out her son’s hat!
The emegensha howled with anger... And Kokaychik from the attic:
- Meow!
- There you are, scoundrel! How did you get there? - the emegensha howled.
- Very simple. He placed a barrel, a cauldron, and a bench on top of each other and stuck a red-hot awl into the bench. “I leaned my foot on the awl and jumped into the attic,” Kokaychik explained.
The emegensha heaped everything that was in the house into a heap: barrels, tables, buckets, and stools, heated an awl on the coals red-hot, and stuck it into the stool. And then she jumped up and kicked - right on the rotten thing! The awl pierced the emegensha’s heel, and she fell unconscious to the ground.
And Kokaychik came down from the attic and killed the emeghensha.
Then he called all the inhabitants of the village and distributed all her goods to them. Here's little Kokaychik for you! By cunning he defeated the evil emigence and remained alive.
Just as we didn’t see all this with our own eyes, so we won’t see any troubles and misfortunes!
