Four frogs were sitting on a log stuck to the river bank. Suddenly the log was caught by the current and began to slowly drift down the river. The frogs' spirits were filled with delight: after all, they had never gone swimming before.
“Really, I wouldn’t be surprised at this log,” one of them finally said. “It moves as if it were alive.” We had never heard of such logs before.
“No, my friend,” the other objected, “it’s just an ordinary log, and it doesn’t move at all.” Then the river carries its waters to the sea, and with it both us and the log.
“What moves is not a log or a river,” said the third. — Movement is in our thinking. For without thought nothing moves.
And the three frogs began to argue among themselves about what was actually moving. The dispute became increasingly hotter, but the disputants, no matter how much they shouted, could not come to an agreement.
Then, with a request to judge them, they turned to the fourth frog, who until now had listened to them attentively, but remained silent. And the fourth frog said:
“Each of you is right in your own way, and no one is wrong.” Movement - both in the log, and in the water, and in our thinking.
Such words made the three frogs terribly angry: none of them could admit that they were not completely right and that the other two were not completely wrong. Then a strange thing happened: three frogs conspired and pushed the fourth into the water.
