Once upon a time there lived a wise king Solomon. But, despite all his wisdom, the king’s life was not calm. And one day Solomon turned to the court sage for advice with the request:
- Help me - there are a lot of things in this life that can make me angry. I am very susceptible to passions, and this really bothers me!
Without hesitation, the sage answered:
- I know how to help you. Put this ring on - you see, the phrase is carved on it: “Everything passes!” When you feel intense anger or intense joy, look at this inscription and it will sober you up. In this you will find salvation from passions!
As time passed, Solomon followed the advice of the sage and found peace. But the moment came and one day, as usual, looking at the ring, he did not calm down, but on the contrary, he lost his temper even more. He tore the ring off his finger and wanted to throw it further into the pond, but suddenly noticed that there was some kind of inscription on the inside of the ring. He took a closer look and read: “This too shall pass...”
