Once upon a time, a kibungo had a wife and they had many children, but the kibungo ate them all. But the kibungo’s wife hid the smallest, youngest son so that his father would not eat him. His name was Zhanzhan. And Zhanzhan’s mother told him not to go out under any circumstances if his father came from the forest and called him in a rough voice, and to respond only to her thin voice. One day the kibungo returned home very hungry: he did not catch a single animal in the forest, and did not capture a single child in the city, and there was no food at home except his little son. And then, in a weak voice from hunger, the kibungo called:
Come out here, son,
There's food here for you!
Zhanzhan thought that his mother had come from the city and brought him sweets, and went out. Kibungo grabbed him, and poor Zhanzhan began to cry:
That's what my mother said:
The hateful kibungo will eat you...
That's what my mother said:
The hateful kibungo will eat you...
He ate the kibungo and his last son, and his wife died of grief. That is why the kibungo has neither a wife nor children.
