Khoja ridicules the dervish-melami
Enlight

One day, a Melami dervish named Sheyad-Hamza, an enlightened, perfect man, walking on the right path, living righteously, said to the Khoja:

- Hodja, is your occupation in this world really just buffoonery? If you are capable of anything, then show your skill, and if you have any learning, show it for our benefit.

Khoja asked him:

- What kind of perfection do you have and what virtue do you have, and what benefit does it bring to people?

“I have many talents,” answered Sheyyad, “and there is no count of my perfections.” Every night I leave this mortal world and fly up to the limits of the first sky; I soar in the heavenly abodes and contemplate the wonders of the kingdom of heaven.

“Hamza,” the Khoja remarked, “isn’t something like a fan wrapped around your face at this time?”

Hamza, joyful, thought: “Well, I sent a fog over him,” and said:

- Yes, Khoja.

“But this is the tail of my long-eared donkey,” said the Khoja.
