Once a thousand akcha was stolen from the Khoja. Khoja went to the mosque and tearfully prayed until the morning that Allah would return his money.
Just at this time, one of the local merchants, captured on a ship by a storm, promised, in case of a successful rescue, to donate a thousand akcha to Khoja. The merchant, saved from danger, fulfilling his vow, gave the Khoja money. Having told him what happened to him at sea, the merchant added:
“Thanks to your intercession and help, I was miraculously saved.”
Khoja thought for a while and then said:
- Wonderful are your deeds, Lord! First, give someone a thousand akcha, and then, in order to return them, send a storm, force the person to take vows... It is difficult to come up with such a strange and roundabout way. Yes, the human mind cannot comprehend the inscrutable secrets of the Almighty! For a reasonable person there is no greater miracle. My money was lost here, but was found at sea. Thanks be to the Lord for his mercies and generosity!
