There lived one man on earth. He was very poor and was always in a bad mood. He had an old dog that he always mistreated and never missed a chance to kick. Kakasbal (Evil Spirit) saw this. He generally sees everything, since he is everywhere at once. He decided that he could benefit himself by playing with the dog's anger. With this thought in his head, he appeared in front of the dog.
- Oh, poor thing, why are you so sad? Tell me the reason for your sadness? What's happened?
- How can I not be sad when my master beats me all the time?...
- Yes, I know. I see, but tell me - why don’t you leave him?
“He is my master, and I am devoted to him.” I will never leave him.
“But your master is not able to appreciate your devotion!”
“It doesn’t matter, he is my master and I will remain loyal to him.”
But Kakasbal did not lag behind the dog. He pressed her until the dog (to get rid of him) was forced to say:
- Okay, you convinced me. Tell me what should I do?
- Give me your soul!
- What will you give me in return?
- Any thing you ask me.
“I want as many bones as there are hairs on my body!”
- Agree!
Then Kakasbal began to count the hairs on the dog's skin. And when he was already finishing counting the hairs, having reached the tail, the dog remembered his devotion to his owner and jerked sharply so that Kakasbal lost the place where his counting stopped.
- Why did you move? I lost count!
“It’s all because of the damned fleas that torment me day and night.” Just start counting again.
Hundreds of times Kakasbal started counting from the beginning and hundreds of times he lost count when the dog began to itch sharply because of “fleas.”
- All! I give up! I won't count anymore! You deceived me, but you taught me a very important lesson - it is much harder to buy the soul of a dog than a human one!
