Jackal and camel

A camel and a jackal were grazing in a field by the river. And on the other side, near the village, the village chickens were rummaging in the ground.

The jackal saw the chickens. His mouth began to water: “It would be nice to catch and eat a chicken!” But I can’t swim across a fast river. What should we do?

The jackal approached the camel and said:

- Friend camel, you love sweets. Would you like to have some fun?

- How? - asked the camel.

“Sugar cane grows on the other bank,” said the jackal. “With your long legs, it won’t cost you anything to cross the river.”

The camel thought. The jackal, fearing that the chickens would run home, quickly said:

“And I’ll climb on your back, and we’ll cross the river together.” Well, bend over!

The camel obediently knelt down.

The jackal mounted the camel and crossed the river without difficulty.

Without thanking him for the service, the jackal jumped off the camel and rushed after the chickens.

And the camel, instead of sugar cane, found only dried bushes on the shore.

Meanwhile, the jackal caught the chicken, tore it into pieces and ate it with pleasure.

The rest of the chickens ran away with shrill clucking noises.

Dehkans with sticks and ketmen came running at the bird cry. Jackal with cunning

with a smile, he quickly darted into the bushes where the camel was grazing. The farmers rushed after him and attacked the innocent camel. The camel barely got rid of them and ran to the river to cross to the other side.

“Friend camel, do you really have the conscience to leave me here?” - said the jackal, blocking the camel's path.

“You ate the chickens, and I got the beaters!” - the camel said angrily.

- It's your own fault! - the jackal interrupted him. - If you ran as fast as me, no one would have caught up with you.

- Tell me, why did you run towards me with a smile?

- With a smile? Yes, that’s my habit! “I always smile after a hearty meal,” said the jackal without blinking an eye.

“You have a good habit,” the camel said with a grin. “Well, okay, climb on my back.”

The jackal climbed onto the camel again.

Having reached the middle of the river, the camel stopped.

- Why are you up? - the jackal exclaimed in fear.

“And I have this habit of swimming after a beating.” I can't stand it if I don't take a dip once!

- Oh, oh! If you plunge into the water, I will drown! - the jackal shouted.

- You'll get what you deserve! - the camel said calmly and plunged into the river. The jackal fell into the water and choked.
