An unjustly imprisoned tinsmith was allowed to receive a prayer rug woven by his wife. Day after day he prostrated himself on it in prayer and, after some time, said to his jailers:
“I am poor and deprived of clothes, and you also receive a beggarly wage.” But I'm a tinsmith. Bring me metal and tools, I will make small things that you can sell at the market, and we will all benefit.
The guards agreed, and soon both they and the tinsmith began to receive money, with which they bought food and necessary things.
One day, when the guards approached the cell, the door was open and the prisoner was not there.
Many years later, when the tinsmith's innocence was established, the man who imprisoned him asked how he managed to escape, what magic he used. He replied:
“It’s all about the pattern, and the pattern within the pattern.” My wife is a weaver. She found the man who made the lock for the cell door and took the drawing from him. She wove it on the rug in the place that I touched five times a day while praying. I worked with metal, and the pattern seemed similar to the design of a lock. I came up with a plan to make gizmos to get metal for the key, and ran.
