Master Jalaluddin Rumi and others say that one day Isa, the son of Mary, was walking through the desert, not far from Jerusalem, with several people in whom greed was still strong.
They begged Jesus to reveal the secret word that resurrects the dead.
“If I tell you this secret,” Isa answered them, “you will use it incorrectly.”
People insisted:
“We are prepared for such knowledge,” they said, “and we fully deserve it.” Moreover, it will strengthen our faith.
“You yourself don’t know what you’re asking for,” Isa objected, but still revealed a great word to them.
Later, these people, again finding themselves in the desert, saw on the ground a pile of bones, whitened by time.
“Let’s try the power of the Word,” they said to each other and said it in unison.
As soon as they uttered it, the bones united into a skeleton, which began to grow overgrown with meat, the meat became covered with hair, and then a wild predatory beast appeared before them. The revived monster attacked them and tore them into pieces.
