In one village

In one village there were many people, and they lived in abundance - they had everything.

And suddenly they began to die. One by one. And why - no one knows.

And a rich man came to this village. He wished to marry the girl Inanupirika. But she refused him.

Then the rich man, offended and angry, left for his village.

And in this village people began to die again.

Inanupirika said:

“We have to leave here, otherwise we’ll all die.”

The people obeyed and went to the seashore. They built new homes for themselves there. But it was boring being away from my people. People began to think and say this: there are other villages; If we go there and live there, everyone will feel good.

What people said was correct, of course.

However, Inanupirika, who rejected that rich man, was against returning to her former places. And in conversations she defeated everyone. That's how long and beautifully she could talk.

After this, the people prepared a lot of food for themselves. It should have lasted all winter.

Here and in this village - I somehow found it - that rich man came and again wished for Inanupirika to become his wife. But she rejected him this time too. And she even said:

- May I never see you again!

That rich man was completely angry. And he left.

And in winter, when a snowstorm began, he quietly came to the village and cut down the supports of the barn with an ax. The barn fell. He chopped it up, and the meat and fish that were stored in it.

And the snowstorm raged so strong that everyone sat by the fireplaces. The blizzard roared for ten days, all the dwellings dug in the ground were heavily covered with snow. When it ended, people barely got out.

Everyone was hungry. But there is no barn. They dug it out for a long time and found remains of food - foxes and sables managed to eat a lot of it. And the dogs helped them.

And then they spoke again:

- We need to leave here. We must go to other villages, to our people. Maybe we won't all get there. But if we stay here, we will all die.

“No,” said Inanupirika, “there is no need to get ready anywhere.” We will live here.

And this time she talked everyone out.

But no one got better. There was absolutely nothing left to eat. People, weakened, gathered together in an earthen dwelling. Women wore silk robes and adorned themselves with beads, just as they adorn the dead. Having done this, they went to bed together. Someone died at night.

Then everyone died.

Inanupirika also died.

One day that rich man came here. I looked at the large empty cauldrons and the collapsed houses. And he left.

Old people from other villages later told their children about this, and their children told their children. They told it so that women would not succumb to reasoning.

Everyone has their own mind.

This is how it was in one village.

They were offended, that’s why they fought

One day, when it seemed that the snow had not yet fallen, it happened.

People lived in Taraika. We lived nothing. It was even very good if sea animals were killed and fish were caught.

And for some reason one rich man went up the river to where the Oroks lived. The Oroks had a lot of deer grazing. From one forest to another - that's how much!

Okay, this man came to the Orcs. He entered their home and sat down by the fire.

Well, the Oroks wanted to treat their guest. They prepared the deer stomach and served it to him.

No one had ever served such food to a man. Bad food. Vile. He was offended. I didn't eat. He left their home and headed to his home. I even forgot why I came to them.

He returned to the village and told about how the Oroks offered him to eat the stomach of a deer. He told me with offense. Everyone listened and was also offended. For all Oroks. These are bad people, they decided. We must fight with them.

We got ready and went to that Orok village. That home was attacked. They killed all the men and all the women. Only the young man managed to jump on the deer and galloped off. They ran after him but didn’t catch up. They shot arrows at him but didn’t reach him. He quickly ran away.

That young man came to another Orok village. Cried. From him the oroks learned what happened in the neighboring village.

Then they made a large pile of bows. And an even bigger pile of arrows.

Then winter came. The lake was covered with ice. The Ainu of the village went out onto the ice, dug holes in it and caught fish with a fishing line.

And suddenly Oroks jumped out from the shore of the lake on reindeer. Behind their backs they had quivers full of arrows, and in their hands were bows. They started shooting at people who were fishing. They shot straight. Wherever a person runs, an arrow will stick into him. They killed everyone.

It has already become dark, and the orcs will not calm down. They boast to each other about who killed how many Ainu. And they still want to fight. And they rushed on reindeer to the village.

The Ainu lived in dugouts back then. And who was in them? Women and children. Well, still old people. They have already forgotten when they fought. And they didn’t have any weapons.

The Oroks surrounded the village. They broke off the chimney covers of all the dugouts and began throwing dry burning grass into them. The women were frightened, the children cried. They didn't know where to go.

Few people felt sorry for the Oroks back then. Only beautiful women were taken with them. Then we married them.

The Ainu of other villages were waiting: will the Orcs still fight? They themselves no longer wanted to. But we prepared just in case.

The two men were the first to begin preparing to fight. One stood to the side, in an open place, the other began to shoot at him with arrows with blunt ends from a bow. This one shoots, and that one catches. This one still shoots, the other one catches again. Then many people started shooting at him. He managed to catch their arrows too. He learned very well - not a single arrow hit him.

Afterwards, other men learned this.

The Oroks found out about this. And they thought. If arrows with iron tips are fired at such dexterous fighters, they will still catch them. Or they will shy away. In addition, they, the Oroks, having Ainok wives, have already become related to the Ainu. Why fight now?

The Ainu also did not like the war. This is a bad thing.

They began to live peacefully.
