And one day, when he was in a state of deep introspection, it suddenly seemed to him as if the devil himself was sitting next to him.
- Get out, get out! - he shouted. “You have no power over me, for I am walking along the Path of the Chosen!”
The vision immediately disappeared. But the sage, who was passing by at that moment, said with sadness in his voice, turning to him:
“Alas, my friend, the entire staircase of your path rests on too shaky ground, which is your insurmountable fear, as well as greed and narcissism. But you were still given the highest test possible.
“I don’t understand you,” he said in surprise.
“It’s very simple,” answered the sage, “after all, this “devil” was an angel. And you yourself dubbed him the devil.
