A long time ago, they say, it was. At that time there was no food on earth. Only one person had food, who came from heaven. And so, when people began to starve, they came to that man and began to ask him:
- Feed us!
But he drove them away.
In those days many died of hunger.
Then people came to Tyr-spider and said:
— Among us, only one person has food supplies. But he is an evil man. He's greedy.
“Don’t say anything more,” Tyr-spider answered them. “I’ll get to him.”
And so Tyr came to the greedy man and said:
“Oh my friend, my lord, let’s become blood brothers!”
The greedy man liked it, and they became brothers. Each sucked a drop of blood from the other from a wound on his hand and they became blood brothers.
Soon Tyr came again to the man and said:
- O my blood brother, give me some food: my children are dying of hunger!
Then his blood brother bent down and said:
“Oh my blood brother Tyr, get into my belly and hold on tight!”
There was nothing to do, Tyr climbed in where he was told. And then the man flew up into the sky with him. There he released Tyr and said: “Here, my blood brother Tyr, you see, there is a lot of food here.” Collect as many nuts and cassava as you need, catch yourself twelve rats, and we will return to earth.
Tyr collected nuts and cassava and caught twelve rats. The man bent down again, Tyr climbed into his seat, and they descended to the ground.
Tyr-spider returned home and fed his wives and children. And when everyone had eaten, Tyr said:
“The bad man is my blood brother.” He forced me to climb into his belly from behind, otherwise he didn’t want to take me to heaven, where there is plenty of all kinds of food. Bad man!
And at this time the greedy man crept up to Tyr’s hut and heard Tyr the spider blaspheme him. He got angry, but hid his anger to himself.
But the supplies that Tyr brought from heaven ran out, and again all his wives and children groaned from hunger.
Again Tyr had to go to his blood brother. He didn’t show any sign of it, forced Tyr to do everything he did last time, and carried him to heaven.
However, this time, in addition to nuts and cassava, in addition to fat akandu rats, Tyr collected the seeds of all edible fruits and cereals in his large bag. But while he was collecting seeds, the greedy man slowly descended to the ground. Tyr-spider remained in heaven.
And then it started to rain. Tyr got wet through and through. He searched and looked for a way back to earth and suddenly saw a narrow path. Tyr went down the path. Almost reached
land, but then the road ended. Then Tyr the Spider wove a rope from his web and descended along it straight to a flat stone at the top of the mountain.
Tyr pulled out a small drum from his big bag and began to drum. People from all over the world came to him to the sounds of tom-tom. Tyr gave them some food and distributed seeds of edible fruits and cereals to everyone. And with what was left in his bag, he returned home.
The seeds brought by Tyr from heaven sprouted. And since then people have had food.
