One day the wolf got hungry and had no strength. He met a fox and said:
“I’m so hungry, godfather, I’ll have to eat you.”
- And in vain, godfather. Don't you see what's left of me: skin and bones?
- Why were you so appetizing at this time last year?
- So last year. And in this one I feed four foxes, as you can see: skin and bones.
- Yes, not so, but I’ll eat you, I’m so hungry.
- Wait, godfather, don’t rush. Why leave four sucklings without a mother when there is such food nearby?
-Where is the food? - asks the wolf.
- Yes, there, nearby, in a well in the meadow.
- What kind of food is there, there is only water, and no one dares to approach that one: the owner is too hot!
- But no. The owner doesn’t let anyone in because he stores cheese in the well.
- What are you saying?
- What you hear. If you don’t believe me, let’s go and have a look tonight and you’ll see for yourself.
- OK. But if you're leading me by the nose...
“Then eat me, godfather, and that’s the end of the matter.”
They went at night to the well in the meadow. And the moon was so round and beautiful, you couldn’t take your eyes off it! It is reflected in the water, and it seems like a head of cheese. Fox says:
- Lean over and take a look, godfather.
The wolf bent down and answered:
“I only see one head.”
And the fox to him:
- So they are stacked, and this one is the top one.
- Okay, how do we get them? - asks the wolf.
And the fox responded:
- What’s easier! Come down and get it.
- Well, no! Let me get into the water!
- Why climb? Sit in the tub, and I’ll let go of the rope little by little. You go down, hang over the water, pick up as much cheese as you want. If you call me, I will pull the rope and pull you out.
- Well, no! And I don’t want to hear! Get into the tub yourself! - says the wolf.
- What's the difference, godfather? Let me sit down.
The fox sat in the tub, and the wolf began to gradually let go of the rope. The fox from below shouts:
- Ugh, godfather, how heavy the cheese is! I can't handle him, come help me!
- How? - asks the wolf.
- What’s easier! - the fox responds. - Sit in another tub and go down, and I will balance you.
The wolf did just that. Only he was heavier than the fox, and as he sank down, he was carried up. And the wolf fell into the water, floundered and shouted:
- Godfather fox, I'm drowning! Godmother fox, I'm drowning!
And the fox to him:
- Be careful not to muddy the water, otherwise the owner, you remember, is painfully hot!
like a wolf and a fox climbed into the chicken coop
The fox got into the habit of climbing into the chicken coop through a hole in the wall, and it was so narrow that he could barely squeeze through. Therefore, she was careful not to eat more than two chickens at a time, otherwise she would fill her belly and would not be able to fit through the hole. He used to eat one chicken and try to see if it would fit through the hole. If it passes, he eats another one. Then he tries again, he sees: it’s just right, it’s no longer possible, it’s time to return home.
The owner of the chicken coop noticed that it was missing and said:
- This villainous fox carries two chickens every day. Well, let me catch her!
And the fox just met the wolf, and he said to her:
“Where from, godfather, at such an early hour?”
Lisa to him:
- Where from, godfather wolf? Yes, I went to try some chicken, not far from here. If you want to eat your fill, come with me tonight.
- I wouldn't mind. But you will guide me as always, huh?
- What are you talking about, godfather! I give you my word, tonight you will eat so much chicken that you won’t move.
That's what we agreed on.
As it got dark, the wolf came to the fox’s hole and shouted:
- Hey, godfather, come out, it’s time! Hey godfather, come out, it's time!
The fox came out and they moved towards the chicken coop.
On the way, the fox says to the wolf:
“You and I, godfather, wouldn’t get caught by the owner.” Let's do this: you eat to your heart's content, and I'll take care of the hole.
They crept up to the chicken coop, the fox climbed in first, the wolf followed. The fox grabbed a chicken, the wolf grabbed another, and ate it in an instant. Then the fox got out of the hole and immediately came back and saw: nothing, it’s not narrow yet. The wolf asks:
- What are you doing, godfather?
And she told him:
“I’m looking to see if the owner is coming.” While everything is quiet, eat for yourself.
They finished the second chicken. The fox is back in the hole, just squeezing through. Wolf to her again:
- What are you doing, godfather?
And she answered:
- I'm looking to see if anyone is coming. So far everything is quiet.
And she climbed back.
Then the wolf began to eat the chickens, filling his belly to capacity, but he didn’t notice that the fox hadn’t swallowed a single piece. For a long time, in short, the owner heard the chickens clucking, quickly realized what was going on, stocked up with a good stick - and went into the chicken coop. The fox saw him, walked into the hole and ran away. The wolf was behind her, but couldn’t get through, so his owner beat him to death with a stick.
