How the Tiarians searched for the sun

In the area where the village of Tiari is located, snow often falls. It happens that it snows even in autumn and spring, but in winter there is never snow here. There are heavy rains and fogs.

One day it turned out to be an unusually stormy day. A sharp wind was blowing, pouring rain was pouring, clouds covered the sky, and people in the darkness could hardly see each other. And the Tiarians said:

- What should we do? Apparently something bad happened to the sun.

Not a single ray of sunlight broke through the thick fog. That's why the Tiarians decided that something was wrong with the sun.

And they said to each other:

- Let's go look for the sun, we need to help him out of trouble.

In search of the sun, they climbed the mountain - perhaps the sun was stuck somewhere among the mountain slopes. Maybe, they thought, they would be able to find it, and then it would shine on their village again.

The Tiarians looked for the sun among mountain passes, in river valleys, in ravines and gorges. Eventually they wandered into a dense forest. They discovered a cave in the forest, looked into it and saw a lion.

- This is our sun! - they exclaimed. - That's where it hid!

The Tiarians began to call the lion:

- Come out, come out! No need to hide!

The lion growled, jumped on the people, grabbed one by the head, tore it off and ran away.

Looking around, the Tiarians saw that one of the companions had no head.

They called the man's wife and said to her:

- Woman! Your husband doesn't have his head on him. Did he forget her at home?

“I’ll go and have a look,” she answered.

The woman returned to the village, searched the entire house and found several strands of hair. She immediately went to the Tiarians, who were looking for the sun, and exclaimed:

- Yes, my dears, you are right. I saw his hair, which means his head must be at home.

Then they turned to the man with the severed head:

- Get up! We're leaving! Get up quickly and get your head around!

He didn't answer them.

The Tiarians turned to him again:

- Get up, buddy! Why don't you answer?

There were still people who guessed what was going on. They said:

“We need to wake him up, friends.” He fell asleep.

But, seeing that all calls and exclamations remained unanswered, someone suggested:

- Okay, let's leave him alone. If he wants, he will come.

They left him and headed home.

Soon the lion returned and devoured the man's body.

When the rain stopped and the sun's rays began to shine again, the Tiarians said:

“It’s good that we found the sun and drove it out of the cave in which it hid from us!”
