A long time ago, old people say, a monster appeared on earth out of nowhere - the seven-headed Delbegen. He had the appearance of a man, only he had seven heads on his shoulders. When one head ate, the other sang, the third slept, the fourth laughed, the fifth cried, the sixth yawned, the seventh talked. Then they changed. The one who ate sang. The one who sang was sleeping. The one who was sleeping was yawning. The one who yawned laughed. The one who laughed cried. The one who was talking was eating. The one who was crying was talking.

Therefore, Delbegen was never full and did not need sleep or rest. Delbegen had a large ax with a wide sharp blade, with which he hunted everyone. Delbegen devoured all living things - animals and birds, cows and sheep, horses and goats. But what the monster liked most was human meat. Delbegen constantly hunted for people. Once he comes to any area where people live, he will not leave until he has devastated the entire camp. But no one dared to fight him - the sight of the seven-headed Delbegen was too terrible. Those who did not have time to escape, or bury themselves in an inaccessible place, fell into his insatiable womb.

So the monster walked the earth and fewer and fewer people remained on it, animals and birds disappeared, the once countless herds of livestock dwindled. People see that if Delbegen is not appeased, then death will soon come to everyone. They began to think who could help them, who would save them from the seven-headed insatiable monster. We decided to turn to the main celestial bodies - the Sun and Moon.

People's pleas for help eventually reached the Sun and the Moon, they turned their gaze to the earth and saw everywhere the terrible devastation that Delbegen had caused. There are very few living creatures in the forests and fields. Thin out the herds of livestock. In places where people used to live in large numbers, only empty yurts stood, and not a single one was smoking from the fireplace. The Sun and Moon understood that all living beings on earth were in a very bad situation. If Delbegen is not appeased and the earth is not freed from him, the earth will soon turn into a dead desert, nothing living will remain on it.

They began to think about how to save people from the seven-headed monster. They decided to take him to heaven so that he would be under their supervision and could not harm anyone else. And for this, one of them needed to go down to earth. They began to think about which people to go to help.

“You need to go to earth, Sun,” says the Moon. - You are older and stronger than me.

The Sun agreed and began to descend across the sky towards the earth. As soon as it started moving, it began to approach the ground, and terrible heat set in everywhere. Rivers and lakes dried up, seas and oceans became shallow. The grasses in the meadows withered and burned out, and fires began in the forests. Even the rocks began to melt under the unbearably hot rays of the heavenly body. The whole earth was covered with ash and ashes, the smoke from the fires covered the sky. Animals and birds, livestock died from thirst and lack of food, and perished in the flames of fires. It was bad for people too. Only those who managed to hide in deep caves survived.

The Sun sees that instead of helping it brings new troubles to all living things on earth, it has stopped. Then it took its place in the sky again. Says to Luna:

“I didn’t succeed.” Delbegen remained alive, but everything alive had a bad time. Try to fall to the ground, rid the earth of the seven-headed monster.

The Moon had to descend to Earth. They decided that the cold light of the Moon would not harm living beings. It wasn't all that simple. The lower the Moon descended, the colder it became on earth. The seas and oceans were covered with thick ice, rivers and lakes were frozen to the very bottom. The whole earth was covered with snow, bitter frosts came to the ground. The birds froze in flight and fell to the ground in ice lumps. Even warm fur did not save the animals from the cold. They huddled in deep holes, but even there they became numb from the cold, as soon as life glimmered in them. The cold weather caused tree trunks to burst with a bang.

People dressed in fur clothes, sat in yurts, kept a big fire in the hearths day and night, and did not spare wood. Although they drowned a lot, they still constantly shivered from the cold.

The huge Moon, approaching the Earth, stopped. I thought that if it fell on the ground, it would destroy all living things. She turned sideways and stood on her edge so as not to completely freeze the ground. The Moon looked around her to find Delbegen and take him to heaven with her.

At this time, Delbegen was on the slope of a high mountain. When the Moon began to descend to the earth, he picked bird cherry berries in the forest and put them in a large basket. I wanted to enjoy something sweet after eating human meat.

The Moon rolled up to the mountain where Delbegen was on and told him to go up to heaven with her. Only the seven-headed monster did not want to leave earth for heaven.

Luna was angry that Delbegen did not want to obey her. She grabbed him by the collar and wanted to take him with her. Delbegen began to resist. He grabbed the bird cherry trunk tightly and tightly. Luna could not tear him away from the tree. Then the Moon pulled harder and tore the bird cherry tree out of the ground along with the roots. So she lifted Delbegen into the sky along with the bird cherry, which he did not let go of his hands.

When she took her place in the sky, she swallowed the rebellious Delbegen. Since then he has been in her Womb. If you look closely at the full moon, you will see that on the bright face of the Moon is Delbegen with an ax, clutching the trunk of a bird cherry tree. shines through.

Delbegen did not calm down. He wants to fall to the ground again, so he is constantly at war with the Moon. Day and night he swings his sharp ax tirelessly, cutting off piece after piece from the Moon. Therefore, the round face of the Moon becomes thinner day by day, turning into a narrow one. sickle. When Delbegen is freed from the womb of the Moon, wants to fall to the ground again, the Moon regains its former strength and becomes round again, swallowing the monster into itself.

Still, Delbegen occasionally manages to defeat the Moon. Then a lunar eclipse occurs. When Delbegen takes over the Moon, people come out of their houses, start knocking on copper basins, iron cauldrons and frying pans, twist dogs' ears so that they howl loudly, make children cry, and shoot guns. They shout loudly: “Let go of the Moon! Let go of the Moon! You won’t be able to defeat her!”

Delbegen gets scared and his strength runs out. The freed Moon swallows him, and he remains in her womb. and the battle between the Moon and the seven-headed monster Delbegen will continue until the end of time.
