Having delivered the logs to the site, the Schildburgers set about building the town hall with such fervor that anyone seeing them would have thought: “Yes, they have not started a fool’s business!” Three days passed, and all three main walls (for the sake of buffoonery they built their town hall on three corners) were ready.

Then the townspeople climbed up and strengthened the rafters. All that remained was to put on the roof.

Satisfied with what they had achieved, they all went en masse to that hospitable house where the owner cuts the hair of his guests without scissors, and ended the working day with great drunkenness, again at the community expense.

The next day, as soon as the bell rang (without this no one was allowed to begin work), they met at the town hall and began to lay the roof.

They stood in a chain: one at the very top, others on the stairs, others on the ground - and so on until there was a pile of tiles. And each tile, passing from hand to hand, finally found its way to the Schildburger, who laid the roof.

But then the bell soon rang again and called everyone to a new trip - to the tavern! The Schildburgers heard the bell, threw down their tiles and set off in a race (if you don't run, you can't win!) straight to lunch. And they ran like bean geese - these are most afraid that they will not get water in the drinking bowl.

But it turned out that the one who was the last to join the chain was the first to run to the tavern and took the best place, the farthest from the entrance, and he would again be in profit when running to work.

Having paid tribute to the treat, the Schildburgers again went to the town hall to consecrate it with honor, and then, on behalf of all the jesters and fools, to try out what it would be like to perform great clownish deeds in it.

They entered in order, and there it was pitch dark! Quite a few Schildburgers suffered a lot of fear here, but they began to think again and wonder why it was dark in the town hall? Did they really make some oversight or mistake when they built it? Did you scare the bright sun? And where is it hidden now? Or maybe something is preventing him from entering the jester's chambers?

They thought, pondered and went out into the wild to look from the street at the work of their hands: maybe some flaw would be discovered there?

However, all three walls turned out to be solidly built, and no flaws were visible anywhere. And here, on the street, the sun was shining regularly, and the Schildburgers did not notice any flaws on it either.

Then they returned to the town hall, but there they really didn’t see any shortcomings - except for the lack of light itself.

Why is there so much to talk about here? The reason for such darkness was not revealed to them, no matter how much they racked their stupid heads, and it remained a dark mystery for them.

Great fear seized the Schildburgers, and for the good of the cause they again raised the cry; “Everyone’s meeting!”
