How the hajis were deceived

In one village, a poor orphan grazed the village's cows. He gave everything that he was paid for his work for safekeeping to the most respectable person in the village - the haji. He always willingly accepted the money for safekeeping and each time assured the shepherd that his money would be intact and he could pick it up at any time he asked for it.

Yaren was glad that such a respectable man patronized him.

Many years have passed. The shepherd was getting ready to get married and decided to take his money from the haji. He came to him.

“Thank you, haji,” he said, “for keeping my money for so many years.” Now I needed them, and I came for them.

Hadji kicked the guy out into the street screaming.

- Look at this ragamuffin! He says he kept his money with me! Where could they come from from a slacker who still does not have his own home!

Saddened, the guy went back to his herd. A woman was walking towards him.

“What happened, my son, that upset you?” - she turned to the shepherd.

The young man told her about his trouble.

- Don't worry! Come to the haji tomorrow morning and you will receive your money!

The next day the shepherd again went to the haji and began to demand his money. And again the haji began to shout as if he didn’t know about any money.

At this time, a woman whom the shepherd had met on the street the day before entered the house.

The haji was glad that now he could easily get rid of the shepherd, and he warmly addressed the woman:

- Tell me, neighbor, what business brought you to our house, what bothers you?

“You know, honorable haji, that my husband is away. I’m alone in the house with the children, my husband doesn’t come back for a long time, and I’m afraid to keep money at home. So I thought, shouldn’t I give them to you for safekeeping until my master arrives? For the sake of Allah, our holy father, take the money and save it until my husband returns.

The haji really liked these words. He knew that the woman had much more money than the poor shepherd, and decided to appropriate it.

- Allah, Allah, how can I refuse a woman such a request, Allah will punish me for this! Don't worry, neighbor! I'll take your money and keep it. I will return them to you intact upon your first request! So I kept the money for our shepherd for several years, and now I return it when he needs it.

With these words, the haji gave the money to the shepherd. At this time, one of the woman’s sons, having been warned by her in advance, ran into the room.

- Hurry up, go home, our mother, father has returned! Hearing these words, the woman began to dance, followed by the shepherd, and then the haji joined them.

The woman was surprised:

“I’m dancing for joy that my husband, the shepherd, has returned because he received his money, but why are you dancing?”

“And I’m glad that I easily got rid of such cunning people,” answered the haji.
