The forest animals have no peace from the fox: he will outwit one, deceive another, here he snatches a tidbit for himself, there he makes fun of someone for the amusement of the whole forest.
There was not a single animal in the area that would not have suffered from it. And no one could figure out how to teach the scoundrel a lesson.
But the monkey thought and thought, grimaced, puffed and finally found a way to punish the fox. Out of joy, she somersaulted and, jumping out of the tree, told everything to the hare who lived in a hole under the tree. He listened to her and blinked his eyes.
And if the hare blinks his eyes, it means he doesn’t really believe.
“Let’s go find the fox,” said the monkey. “You will sit aside and see everything with your own eyes.” The monkey found the fox, bowed to her and asked:
- Most venerable one, do you know what is the most delicious thing in the world? Hearing about the delicious food, the fox pricked up her ears.
- The most delicious thing? “It’s interesting,” she said. - What is the most delicious? You know?
“I just learned today that the most delicious thing in the world is horse meat.” The only pity is that it is very difficult to obtain. If you want to try this meat, you must first tie your tail with the horse’s tail...
- Why? - asked the fox.
“If you don’t tie the horse, it will run away and you won’t be able to catch it!” - answered the monkey and quietly added:
- Oh, what a horse I just saw! He lies in the meadow and sleeps... After listening to the monkey, the fox first thought, and then pretended to be indifferent:
- We still need to check if it’s so tasty! We'll talk about this later, but for now, don't tell anyone about anything!
And waving her long tail, the fox ran away. But she ran away not far away. The monkey climbed the tree and saw that the fox was quietly sneaking across the meadow towards the sleeping horse. The horse worked all day, was very tired and therefore slept soundly. The fox crept up to her and carefully tied his tail with hers. And then she chose a fatter place and sunk her teeth into the horse’s croup.
At that time the horse was having a sweet dream, but, feeling severe pain, it instantly jumped to its feet and, without understanding what was happening, started galloping across the field...
As she ran, she threw the fox off of her and dragged it along the grass - after all, the fox's tail was tightly tied to the horse's.
Ay-ya! It wasn't that tasty! The fox did not know how to save her skin, but she was sorry to part with her luxurious tail.
And all this time a monkey was watching the fox from a tree. She clapped her hands with joy and jumped high on the branch. She jumped and jumped, but suddenly she stumbled and flew down! She hit her butt so hard on the ground that a big red bump popped up in her spot!
The hare, looking at all this, laughed so much, laughed so much that he even tore his upper lip.
From that time to this day, the monkey has a red bottom, the hare has a torn upper lip, the horse never dares to sleep lying down and sleeps only standing up, and the fox has brown spots on its red fur - the memory of how its horse dragged it along the ground.
Let this fairy tale teach you something too. Know that for evil you will be paid with evil.
Don’t forget about danger even in your dreams. Rejoice at luck in moderation, otherwise you may stumble.
Well, when you start having fun, remember about the hare with a torn lip!
