Once upon a time there was a girl. She lived with her father and mother. They had only one, and they lived in abundance.
One day a girl went to wash her shirt. Suddenly he sees a gypsy riding a horse, and he’s so handsome that you couldn’t find anything more beautiful. Gypsy says:
- Hello, girl. Where do you stand?
“And there, nearby,” she answers. -Where are you?
- Not far from here. Go to the tent, I'll be there soon.
The girl returned, and the gypsy followed. He tied his horse, entered the tent and said:
- Great, grandfather!
-Where did you come from? - he asks.
- I'm a gypsy. I'm going to change it. Do you know where they change here?
Grandfather answers:
“A gentleman lives not far from here, but he doesn’t like gypsies.”
- OK! Don't be afraid!
The gypsy and his grandfather went. They're coming. The grandfather stopped a mile from the house, and the gypsy went to the master's yard. The master asks:
- Who came?
“The gypsy has arrived,” the lackeys answer.
- Send him to me.
The gypsy entered the mansion. The master accepted him and asked:
-Did you come alone?
- No, my friend is standing there in the field.
The master sent a footman to bring his grandfather into the house. The grandfather saw the footman, thought - chase and let's go, they caught up with him by force, brought him to the master's yard by force.
Gypsy says:
“Won’t you and I switch, master?” Do you have any barter?
- Eat.
They brought out a horse for the gypsy, and the horse was beautiful, better than his own. They changed horses, and in addition the master gave him a lot of money. The gypsy and his grandfather returned to the tent, the gypsy asked:
- Give me, old man, your daughter in marriage.
“And that’s how my daughter will get better,” the old man replies.
They asked the girl if she agreed.
- I'll go for him! - she answered.
- Well then, wait, I’ll come in a week to marry my father.
A week passed, the matchmakers arrived and wooed the girl. It seems like we need to prepare for the wedding, but the gypsy says:
- Give me your daughter without a crown. I have no time to attend a wedding now.
- Why such a rush? – the grandfather was surprised.
“We stood at the edge of the master’s field, and our horses consumed all the master’s grain, so we had no time: we had to go to the master and pay for the bread.” Give your daughter this way, and once we get things done, we’ll have a great time at the wedding.
“Ask your daughter about this, if she agrees, if she agrees, then I won’t argue with you either.”
They asked their daughter. This is what she said:
“If I don’t marry this, I won’t need anyone else.” I will suffer all my life because of you.
What was left for grandfather? He agreed to give his daughter away without a crown.
So he took the gypsy girl with him. She lives in someone else's camp. One day she went to get water, and the gypsy kids ran after her. And the girl sees that the children have horns growing on their heads.
The girl realized where she had ended up and began to cry. She began to call her husband and persuade him:
- Let's go visit my father.
But he doesn’t want to go. She persuaded him for a long time until he agreed. Finally they harnessed the horses and went to see their father. The old people were glad that their daughter had returned. The father mounted his horse and went for vodka: of course, his son-in-law had arrived. We drank, then the son-in-law lay down under the canopy to rest.
The daughter took a moment, came up to her father and said:
- Oh, father, go quickly and get the priest, let the priest come.
The priest has arrived. The gypsies have gathered. The priest began to baptize the tent. The devil woke up - the gypsy woman's husband, when he saw all this, broke through both the canopy and the tent and flew out.
His wife lived only a week after that and died, poor thing.
