Fires started in the forests. Because of the consequences of the quarrel between the two spirits, people suffered the most. Nüwa felt very sorry for all the ren whom she considered her children. She could not approximately punish the immortal spirits, so she began the hard work of repairing the sky for the sake of people’s happiness.
First of all, she collected many stones of five different colors, melted them on the fire and with this mass sealed the holes and cracks in the sky. That is why the sky is not only blue, but sometimes red, and yellow, and greenish, and whitish, and even gloomy gray. But the sky continued to tilt menacingly. The base of the mountain rested on the shell of a giant turtle. And Nüva, for the sake of people, committed a cruel act for the first and last time. She cut off the turtle's paws and made them into supports for the sky. Fire and water have subsided. So the great Nuiva saved her children from disasters and death under the weight of the sky.
