One day he was lucky enough to catch a huge bream. The evil wizard was very happy - he had never come across such a big fish before. “Don’t eat me, sir,” the bream begged. “I am the king of fish, and if you let me go, I will supply you with a hundred fish every day.”
“Okay,” agreed Bilu. “But just keep in mind: if you don’t keep your promise, I’ll catch you and then I’ll definitely eat you!”
The bream began to catch fish for Bilu, the fish got scared and hid. Time passed, and every day the fish became less and less, and finally the day came when the bream could no longer supply the evil wizard with a hundred fish every day. He went to Bill and honestly admitted everything.
- This can’t be! - the angry Bilu was indignant, - Why suddenly there were no fish? After all, one fish can give birth to thousands!
“That’s right,” the bream answered him, “but there’s not enough water in the lakes, so the fish don’t stay in them.” If only there was more water, then it would be a completely different matter!
“Well,” said Bilu. - Since this is the case, I will build a canal. Maybe then there will be more water.
The canal dug by the evil wizard is still called “Bilu Canal” to this day.
And then there was so much water that four small lakes merged and formed one large lake. But it was still difficult to catch a hundred fish every day - the fish were hiding in the depths of the lake. One day a bream came to Bill empty-handed and prayed:
“Oh sir, I was about to catch a hundred fish for you, but they escaped me to the very bottom of the lake.”
Then Bilu got angry and ate the bream. And to punish the hiding fish, he sent insects to the lake that were capable of killing them. Meanwhile, the bream that Bilu ate turned into a powerful nat. Wanting to take revenge on the cruel Beale, he killed all the insects and threw them ashore. There were so many insects that small mountains were formed from them. Garbage and dry leaves began to settle on these mountains. Tree seeds also flew there, and soon lush forests turned green on the mountain slopes. And where there are forests, there are birds. People liked the beautiful places, and they began to build villages on the shores of Lake Inlay.
There is an old belief that the soil on the mountains near Lake Inlay is so fertile because it consists entirely of insect remains.
