Elder Ayangul escaped for many years on Mount Tau.
He prayed so much that his beard sank into the ground and his feet became covered with moss.
Whispers barely audibly:
- Cut it up, have mercy, save it.
OK.
God-Vuis was driving past and saw the old man:
- What are you doing here? - asks.
The old man did not turn his head.
Answers angrily:
- Or don’t you see? I pray.
God-Vuis went to the old god-Kutai and said:
“On Mount Tau, Elder Ayangul is praying, his beard has grown into the ground, his legs are covered with moss.
The old god Kutai was surprised:
“He’s been praying for so long, but I don’t even know.”
Arrived at Mount Tau, says Ayangul:
- I am Kutai. What are you asking me for?
Ayangul fell on his face:
- Forgive me, a great sinner, have mercy.
And Kutai said:
- Tell me your sins. Maybe I'll have mercy.
Ayangul told his sins.
Kutai shakes his head:
“Your sins are like the sins of other people.” Maybe there is something else? Say everything.
“I have no more sins,” Ayangul answers.
Kutai was surprised:
- Why did you pray for so long?
Ayangul fell on his face again:
“I want to say one more word to you, mighty Kutai.”
- Speak.
“I also prayed, Kutai, for people, for their sins, for their grave iniquities.
Kutai shook his head:
“I prayed in vain, Ayangul.” People have few sins, and if they do, they do so out of ignorance, out of their own foolishness. Even if you live with them, it’s hard for them to live. And you will sin. And I forgave all their sins long ago. Go to the people, Ayangul, it’s cold on Mount Tau.
Ayangul got angry. Spat:
“I prayed for so many years, my beard grew into the ground, my legs were covered with moss, and all in vain.” Don't Kutai, but the evil spirit Onu! Go away!..
Then he raised Kutai Ayangul above the ground. Said:
- Look!
And Ayangul saw what Kutai told him.
I started crying.
Said:
“My sin is great,” I didn’t believe Kutai. Sorry.
The old and cunning god Kutai said:
- I forgive you. Go to people and say: Kutai believes you. Someday the shell will fall and you will see a clean and tasty fruit.
