By order of Chaneko, the animals dispersed throughout the entire earth and have since lived everywhere: in forests, rivers, streams and lakes. Animals then were not yet as deft as they are now, able to defend themselves. It was very difficult for them - after all, there was already a person living among them!
Once a hunter with a bow and arrow met a huge alligator on the river bank, the only one in those days.
The alligator said to the man:
“If I had seen you earlier, I would have torn you to pieces.”
- How? - asked the man.
“Very simple,” the alligator answered, “like this,” and began to make quick movements with his body and opened his mouth wide.
“Oh, this is very interesting and worthy of admiration,” said the hunter.
Flattered by the praise, the alligator continued to click his teeth, and the hunter took and threw a stone into the huge mouth of the carefree alligator.
The alligator became completely helpless, and the hunter cut out his tongue. From this time on, the alligator has no tongue.
