Once upon a time there lived a husband and wife, they lived poorly. For a long time they thought and wondered how to get out of poverty. And so the wife came up with a cunning trick. At a flea market, she bought a priest’s cassock, collected her simple belongings, and she and her husband went to look for a suitable village. Luckily for them, they found a village where the priest had long since died. The wife immediately came to an agreement with everyone, and her husband became a priest in that village, even though he was completely illiterate. The new priest and the priest began to live and live and make good things. There was plenty of food and drink in their house. And that's what they wanted.

For a long time, for a short time, a bishop came to the village one day to see how the peasants lived there without a priest. Well, he called all the villagers to him and ordered them to immediately go to church. Anyone who has a child, they say, should be baptized immediately. If anyone has died, let his relatives hold a memorial service for him. Let the rest go to communion.

“Well, Vladyka, we’ll come to church,” answered the peasants. - And christenings, communion, masses for health and repose - our priest does an excellent job with this.

The bishop was surprised - what kind of priest is this? Where did it come from? Well, he called the priest. He came to bow to him and kissed his hand.

-Where did you come from? - asks the bishop. - Who made you a priest?

- I am a villager, sir. And my wife made me a priest.

The bishop was even more surprised - how could a woman dare to do such a thing? He ordered the priest to be brought and strictly asked:

“Is it true that you unlawfully made your husband a priest?”

And when he heard that it was true, he became angry and shouted:

- How dare you!

- He is my husband! - answered the wife. “If I want to, I’ll appoint him not only as a priest, but also as a metropolitan.”

The bishop heard her speech, fell silent and thought: “Everyone here is blind, and even the one-eyed man is a guide to the blind.”
