How a thief stole a cow
Enlight

One man bought a cow, brought it home and let it graze, while he lay down to rest and fell asleep. At this time, another man untied the cow and took her away. The owner woke up, saw that the thief was taking away the cow, and chased after him shouting:

- Hey, where are you taking my cow?

And the thief goes on his way as if nothing had happened. Finally the owner caught up with the thief, grabbed the rope and tried to take away his cow. Then the thief shouted:

-Are you crazy? I'm taking the cow out of the house. How dare you take it away and even call me a thief?

They argued and argued and went to the judge. The judge could not figure out their case and took them both to the king.

The owner of the cow fell on his face before the king and said:

“Your Majesty, I just bought a cow, brought her home, let her graze, and I myself lay down to rest and dozed off.” I wake up and see this man taking my cow away. I rushed after him, I want to take the cattle, but he doesn’t give it back, argues and proves that the cow is not mine, but his.

-What did you feed the cow? - asked the king.

“Grass, Your Majesty,” answered the puzzled owner.

Then the thief spoke:

- Your Majesty, I led the cow from the house. Suddenly this man attacked me, pulled out the rope, and accused me of theft.

– What did you feed your cow? - asked the king.

- Peas, Your Majesty.

The king ordered the servant to bring the cow's cud. The gum contained only grass and no traces of peas. Then the king ordered the cow to be given to its owner and the thief to be punished with whips.
