How a poor man won a rich man's property

One poor guy was left without a father and without a mother. He distributed the property that he inherited to the village residents. He had six sheep left - he drove them to pasture. He met a man:

“Give me your sheep,” he asked.

The guy gave him the sheep and wanted to turn back.

“Wait,” the man told him. - For your kindness, I will give you good advice. Now you have nothing left - you need to find a good wife, and you will live happily ever after. Go and woo her. There is a suitable girl in the neighboring village.

“Will she marry a poor man like me?” – the guy asked.

“It’s not your concern,” the man answered. - Go and woo her.

The guy went to the neighboring village, wooed that girl and married her. He brought her to his house, and there was nothing in the house, just bare walls. The wife took off her golden cap and said:

- Go sell this hat and buy us a cow.

“People will shame me - I haven’t even gotten married, and I’m already selling my wife’s hat, they will say,” the guy objected.

But the wife insisted on her own. Her husband took her golden cap to the market, sold it and bought a cow.

He drove the cow home. He chases a cow and meets a guy on the road.

“Let’s change, you give me a cow, I’ll give you a new cloak,” the guy suggested.

- Let's.

The husband gave the cow, took the cloak and moved on.

As he walked, he met another man - he offered to exchange the burka for a fez. The husband agreed, gave the burqa, took the fez and moved on.

He walked and walked and reached the river. I decided to wash my face. He undressed, laid the fez on the bank, and entered the river. Then the wind rose, picked up the fez and carried it away. No matter how much my husband ran along the shore, he did not catch the fez.

Sad, he went home. I passed by the house of a rich man, he was sitting in the shade of a tree, resting. He saw the guy and called out:

-Why did you hang your head? Come in, you will be a guest!

A guy came into the house and told about everything that had happened to him: how he gave people everything that he got from his parents, how he married a good girl, how his wife offered to sell her golden cap, how he exchanged the cap for a cow, the cow for a burqa, and the burqa for a fez, and how the wind carried away the fez.

“What will your wife tell you now, won’t she beat you?” - asked the rich man.

“He won’t beat me,” the guy answered confidently.

Then the rich man called two witnesses and in their presence said:

- If it happens as he says - his wife does not beat him, I will take my wife and leave the house, and I will leave all my property to him. If his wife beats him, then he and his wife will work as laborers for me all their lives.

The guy agreed to these conditions, and all four headed to his house.

The wife joyfully greeted her husband. He began to tell her about his affairs:

- I sold your hat and bought a cow.

“That’s good,” the woman rejoiced.

- But I exchanged the cow for a burqa.

“Very good,” said the woman. – I like it when a man wears a burqa.

“But I exchanged the burka for a fez, and the wind carried it away,” said the husband.

Then the woman jumped up, ran up to her husband, hugged him and said:

– It’s so good that after everything that happened to you, you returned alive and well!

Hearing such words, the rich man began to cry - after all, he now had to take his wife and leave, leaving all his wealth to the poor man.
