How a poor man gave up wealth

Once upon a time there lived a rich cattle breeder. Before his death, he bequeathed all his herds to anyone who agreed to sit in his grave for the whole day.

A rich man died, but no one wanted to accompany him to the grave. Finally, one poor man from the village, whose entire wealth was an old tailless donkey, agreed. They put the poor man in a crypt next to the rich man’s corpse, covered him with large stone slabs, covered him with earth, only leaving a small hole for air. The poor man in the grave felt scared, but there was nothing to be done - be patient.

At midnight, the grave was illuminated and two angels, Munkir and Nakir, entered the crypt, moving aside one of the slabs.

-Who will we judge first? - asked Munkir.

“Alive,” answered Nakir. “Dead will not leave us anywhere!”

And they began to strictly question the poor man about his life and affairs. He especially got it because he treated his donkey badly, did not feed and water it on time. They were even reminded of the thorns that the poor man put under the donkey’s tail when he was especially stubborn.

Finally, a day passed, the villagers dug up the grave and you found a half-dead poor man. When he woke up, everyone began to congratulate him on his easily acquired inheritance.

- I don’t need any inheritance! - exclaimed trouble. nyak. - If I was tortured for so long for one lousy donkey, how will I be responsible for entire herds and herds?
