How a master's dog was taught to speak
Enlight

One rich gentleman had a smart dog - it did everything that the owner ordered it to do. Only I couldn’t speak. The master began to look for a person who would teach his dog human speech. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere he found a peasant who undertook to teach the master’s favorite this wisdom.

- How much will you take for this? - asked the master.

- Quite a lot. Forty pounds of gold. And so that he pays me in advance.

“Okay, I’ll pay you forty pounds of gold in advance,” the master agreed. “Just teach the dog!” Let's go to me for her.

We've arrived. The peasant heaped forty pounds of gold onto his cart and took it to his home along with the master's dog. And he began to teach her what was required.

Five months later the master came to the dog teacher and asked:

- Well, how? Is my dog talking already?

“Yes, he doesn’t talk much anymore,” the peasant answers.

- What can she tell me?

- He can say “woof-woof”, “rrrr” and stuff like that.

- Learn quickly! - says the master.

- When I teach you completely, you will pay me another forty pounds of gold.

- Okay, I’ll pay you more, just teach me!

A little time passed - the peasant came to the master and reported that his dog had already been fully taught to speak like a human.

The master paid him another forty pounds of gold and ordered him to bring him a talking dog tomorrow.

The next day the peasant came to the master alone again.

- Where is my dear dog? The peasant began to tell him:

“I took her to you today and started talking to her along the way.” He began to ask how your master lives, how his wife-mistress lives, and she let me tell me everything frankly, that the master does not get along with his wife, and gets confused with maids and other women. I listened and listened, and I became afraid: your dog wouldn’t talk about this to everyone, including your wife. To prevent this from happening, I immediately killed the dog.

- Well done. Did the right thing! — the master was delighted. “I’ll give you another forty pounds of gold for this.” Otherwise it would be bad for me.

Since then, not a single master has taught his dogs to speak.
