In ancient times, the wind blew every day. He blew so hard that he did not let anyone live. Then the coyote decided:
“So that the wind doesn’t blow anymore, I’ll catch him and kill him.” I will set a snare in the gorge between the mountains. That's where I'll find him.
And so the coyote took it and set a snare on a rock in the narrowest part of the gorge. And then he went home to sleep.
The next morning a coyote comes to the gorge and sees someone struggling in a snare. Long wavy hair. Big eyes. Wide mouth.
The coyote took an arrow from his quiver, put it on his bow, and said:
- Now you will die!
“Don’t shoot at me,” says the wind. - Don't you feel sorry for me?
“It’s not a pity,” the coyote answers. “You raid houses every day and mind your own business.” Prepare to die!
“Have pity on me,” the wind begs.
“Okay, live,” the coyote took pity, “just promise me, say: “I’ll never blow again!”
“But I’ll die if I sit at home all the time,” the wind cries. - How can I find food then?
- OK. Then say: “When I blow, when I stop!”
- I swear to you: when I blow, when I stop. The coyote freed the captive from the snare and set him free. The wind is therefore alive to this day.
Only now, when it blows, when it stops.
