A strange man was walking along the river bank. He was dressed in a loose robe, on his head he carried a pumpkin filled with rancid water, in his hands were heavy stones, and a heavy chain trailed behind his leg.
A passerby asked in surprise:
- Why do you need these stones? Look, the shore is full of stones, and when you need it, you can pick up any!
The man looked back, and, seeing that this was so, threw away the stones and thanked the oncoming traveler. Indeed, it became easier to walk.
Another passerby who met on the way stopped him with the words:
- Dear, this river has very clean water and you can quench your thirst at any time. Why do you need this pumpkin?
The man looked back and, seeing that this was so, threw away the pumpkin, thanking the passerby. Walking became even easier. A third passer-by noticed the chain.
But no one could see the heavy millstones tied to the body under the robe. And only when he notices them himself will he be able to throw off this burden.
