A wandering seeker of truth once saw a dervish in a teahouse and said to him:
“I still cannot determine who the true Guide is or how to find him. But I learned to recognize false teachers. But this, in my opinion, is also good.
The dervish pulled himself by the collar and said:
- Unhappy man! Becoming an expert at identifying useless things is like being able to identify rotten apples without knowing the properties of healthy apples. Be careful not to become like the doctor from the fairy tale.
A certain king, in order to test the doctor’s honesty, sent several healthy people to him for examination. The doctor gave each of them the same medicine. When the king called him to himself and accused him of deception, the doctor replied: “Great King, I have not seen anyone except the sick for so long that I began to think that everyone was suffering from some kind of disease, and I considered the bright eyes of completely healthy people to be a clear sign of fever.”
