The year that Skanderbeg arrived in the village of Lufai, there was a severe crop failure in those parts. Hearing that Skanderbeg was approaching their village, the villagers went out to meet him and waited at the Ert cave. In front of them they placed a huge trough filled to the top with grain, which they collected by the handful from each house. Welcoming Skanderbeg, the peasants said that they remained strong, did not lose heart and were not afraid of the difficulties of a lean year. This meeting greatly pleased Skanderbeg, who knew about the plight of the peasants, and he blessed the village with these words:
“From this day on, may wheat ear in your fields, and may the inhabitants of your village always have plenty of bread!”
From that field around the village a sea of wheat will be born, and its inhabitants always have an abundance of bread.
