Gyandou

If laziness attacks a person, no shaman will help. Only hunger will cure it.

There lived a girl Dzi-Dzi. She fell in love with the hunter Dadu. They got married and began to live. They just lived poorly. Laziness attacked Dadu, he became Gyandou - a quitter. Dada lies in the yurt all day long and plays the Kingulasti pipe. All the reserves of meat and yukola were eaten - the tsali was empty.

- Why don’t you go hunting? There’s nothing to eat,” Dzi-Dzi tells him.

“Don’t bother me,” Dada answers, “you see, I’m busy, playing the kingulasti.”

Hunters are riding along the river on bats. Dzi-Dzi asked them for lenkov: there was nothing to eat, she said. The hunters were surprised and asked Dada:

- Why don’t you hunt, you live in the taiga?

- Why don’t you fish, the river is nearby?

“My legs hurt and my eyes can’t see,” Dada answers. The hunters took pity on him and said:

“Why do you need to stay here, you might die.” Take our baht and come to our camp.

They left the baht and left. Dzi-Dzi was delighted.

“Get your things and load them to the baht,” she tells her husband.

“I don’t feel bad here either,” says Dada. – You need it, you load it, and I’ll play the kingulasti. My legs hurt.

His wife got angry and broke his pipe. Dada stood up and, out of anger, pushed him into the water. - Load it yourself, if you want. And I’ll go to the taiga and cut out the kingulasti.

- Are you saying your legs hurt? But he pushed the baht into the water, however,” Dzi-Dzi shouted after him. “And I thought to myself: I shouldn’t have married him, he likes pipes more than I do.” He's Gyandou, he's lazy.

She had just loaded her things when Dada returned from the taiga from the new Kingula. They boarded the boat and sailed down the river. Dzi-Dzi sits on the stern with an oar and controls the bat, and Dada lies down on the bow, lifts his legs up and plays the kingulasti. They swam to the riffle, and Dada still played the kingulasti. The waves began to overwhelm the baht. The splashes hit him in the face, and Dada choked and stopped playing.

“You’re going the wrong way, the hare gave birth to you!” - he scolded his wife. - We need to go to a quiet place.

Meanwhile, the riffle ended and the river became calm again. Dada shook himself off, lay down and started playing. So they reached the Konchuga hunters’ camp. Dzi-Dzi asked the hunters for fish.

“We’ll catch it and give it back,” he says.

The hunters gave her fish and said nothing. Dada got enough, climbed into the yurt and started playing again.

“You play well,” the hunters tell him, “but why don’t you go hunting?”

“My legs hurt,” Dada answers. Dzi-Dzi looked and looked, and she felt ashamed. I won’t ask for fish for him anymore, let him die of hunger, she thinks. Dzi-Dzi had a fight with Dada.

“I won’t live with you anymore,” she tells him. - Since you are Gyandou, lazy, live alone.

She took her clothes, a blanket of squirrel skins, bear skins, tied everything in a bundle and went to another yurt. One day I played the Kingulasti Dada, the second day I played, on the third day my stomach gave out, I had no more air, I couldn’t play. There was nothing to do - he got up, took a pole and a spear, sat in the omo-rochka and swam. At first it swam quietly and wobbled in different directions; They’ll look and say he’s sick. As soon as the camp disappeared, he got to his feet and swam quickly. He sailed farther away, lit a fire on the bow of the omorochka and stuffed a lot of lenks with spears.

Dada returned to the camp, unloaded the fish and ran after his wife. He entered Konchuga’s yurt, took Dzi-Dzi by the hand and said:

- Let's go home, we need to clean the fish. I caught it.

Dzi-Dzi didn’t believe him, she didn’t even take the knife with her. And when I saw it, I was happy. Since then they have reconciled and live together. Dada still plays the kingulasti, but the laziness has completely gone out of him.
