Once upon a time there lived two brothers - a poor one and a rich one. The rich brother lived happily, but the poor brother was already ready to go around the world, all that remained was to tie some rags into a bundle. He came out of the hut with the children and then heard a voice behind him:

– Don’t leave me, take me with you! The poor brother looked around and asked:

- Who are you?

And in response to him:

- I am your grief, I live my life with you and I don’t complain about my life. I have a good life with you.

The poor brother told Gor to follow them and carry the millstones. They set off on their journey, they walked, they came to the river. And one log was thrown across the river. The brother carefully carried his children across the crossing; Goryushko was the last to drag his own. He carried it to the middle of the river, picked it up and shook it into the water. He himself says to his wife:

- Let's go back home. Since we sank Goryushko, we can live now.

They returned home and lived like a rich brother. A rich man asks a poor man:

- How did you manage to get rich? The poor brother replies:

- When we went around the world, Grief followed us, and I drowned him in the river. Since then they have healed.

Rich brother says:

- In what river did you drown Grief?

The poor brother told him and showed him the place. The rich brother was overcome by envy. He cut down a spruce tree, made a fishing rod out of it, and tied an anchor instead of a hook. Then he killed the worst horse for bait and went to the river to catch Gore. He sits and fishes. It took the bait. He picks up the fishing rod and looks; Grief caught. Goryushko was glad that he was pulled out of the water; he does not know how to thank his rich brother. And the rich brother is also pleased, it’s flattering for him to be known as a kind person. They went home. As they approached the house, the rich brother said:

- Well, Goryushko, climb back onto the stove with your brother. And Woe answered him:

“Am I really going to leave you, such a kind person?” After all, you saved me, pulled me out of the water! No, I won’t go to your brother, he’ll throw me into the river again.

And Mountain climbed onto the stove to the rich brother. From then on, the rich brother began to become poorer, and the poor brother began to grow richer.
