In the courtyard of one monastery there grew a large tree. The fruits on the tree were ripe and had already begun to rot, but the abbot of the monastery did not allow anyone to pick them. He was very greedy and only cared about himself.

Then two peasants decided to deceive the greedy monk and pick fruit from his tree. One of them came to the abbot and asked permission to pick some fruits.

“No,” the monk answered roughly, “I need the fruits myself.”

“You misunderstood me,” said the peasant, “I came to invite you to taste my kenga * made of venison.” And I need the fruits for the sauce.

- Why didn’t you say about this earlier! - exclaimed the abbot. - Take as much as you want.

The peasant filled a bag with ripe fruits and left, promising to come for the monk in the evening.

Soon a second peasant came to the monastery and also asked permission to pick some fruits. Having been refused, he invited the abbot to try chicken kanga in the evening. Delighted abbot

I allowed him to pick as many ripe fruits as he wanted. The peasant filled a large basket with fruits and left.

In the evening both peasants called the abbot. He left the monastery and walked with them along the path leading to the village. Having reached the crossroads, one of the peasants said:

- Let's go to me first, my house is located to the right of this road.

“No,” the other objected, “let’s go to me first!” My family had already sat down to dinner.

They began to argue, and then grabbed the abbot by the hands and began to pull him in different directions. The peasants cursed and tugged at the greedy monk until he begged:

- Leave me alone! I don't want venison kang or chicken kang. Just let me go!

The peasants returned to the village and laughed at the greedy monk for a long time: none of them prepared any kenga.
