One artist traveled a lot around the world and became widely famous. But he could not find the way to Krishna, although he really wanted to get His recognition. For this purpose, he asked Krishna for a meeting, met Him and invited Him to stand quietly so that he could paint His portrait. He made a sketch and said that he would complete the portrait in a week. Krishna immediately saw how vain the artist was.
Right on time, the artist brought the finished portrait, covered with a white cloth. After opening the painting in the presence of Krishna, he was shocked by the lack of resemblance between Krishna and His image and asked for another week to complete the work.
Several times he tried to complete the work, but each time he failed. In complete despair, he decided to leave the city. On the way, he met the sage Narada, who told him that it was foolish to try to draw Lord Krishna. God does not have a specific form; He can change His face every second. Narada added:
“If you really want to portray Him, I will reveal to you a way that will help you do this.”
And he whispered something in the artist’s ear. He followed Narada's advice, returned back and, holding some thing under a white cape, again turned to Krishna and told Him that He was free to change as He pleased, but the portrait would still be very similar to Him. When the veil was pulled back, Krishna saw only a mirror reflecting an exact copy of Him.
