Two brothers went hunting on deer.
The older brother was a fool, and the younger brother was smart. They drove up to the river, the fool took out a knife and cut the deer's skins on his legs, raised them higher so as not to wet the skins and spoil them. The deer staggered and died. The brothers hunted for a long time and ate all the deer.
The younger brother went into the tundra, and the older brother said to himself: “My brother will come from hunting, but he has nothing to eat.”
The fool cut off one of his buttocks and began to fry it. A goblin came to the smell, wanted to eat the fool, and the fool rushed at her and let’s chase her across the tundra. He chased and chased her, the little goblin fell, gave up the ghost and turned inside out, what was inside became outside, and what was outside became inside. The fool covered her with stones and put a deer stomach on her head instead of a malakhai. The younger brother comes from hunting and the fool treats him to meat. Junior says:
- I don’t want to, eat it yourself!
The brothers went home, the younger brother's trail was straight, like an arrow, and the older brother's was all in circles and loops.
They come home. The fool said that he killed a goblin.
Mother warns:
- Don't talk in front of the children!
The fool sent his two youngest sons to his sister to take the meat.
The guys come to their aunt. And my aunt’s husband is a devil. Little says:
- Our father killed a goblin in the tundra!
The nephew’s aunt pulled him back, but it was too late. The goblin got angry and took the knives and spears from the guys.
- Tomorrow, when you go home, tell me! At night, the goblin hid his wife’s kukhlyanka. The next morning, the aunt could not see her nephews off; she could not find her kitchenette.
Let's go home. The goblin untied the bear-dog and said to it:
- Tear them apart!
“No,” the bear dog refuses, “I won’t go, they’ll kill me!”
“I took away their knives and spears.”
The bear dog returned, his face covered in blood. The goblin did not order his wife and daughter to feed the dog: “I will feed it myself now.” The goblin went to the grave of the female goblin, scattered stones, brought them home, placed them near the bear dog and did not order his wife and daughter to go there.
The fool's two eldest children come, bring meat to their aunt, and ask about their brothers. The goblin asks about his sister. The aunt got scared and pulled her nephews by the kitchen table. Children answer:
“We didn’t see or hear anything.”
The next morning, the aunt wanted to see the children off, but again she couldn’t find her clothes, and the children went alone. The goblin unleashed a bear dog on them. The dog returned - again his muzzle was covered in blood.
The mother scolds the fool.
The fool made a spear from a whale's rib, took the whale's head under his arm and went to his sister.
“Hello,” says the goblin to the fool. - Why did you come?
“Yes, we don’t have a knife or a spear left at home.” Give us our knives that you took from my guys.
- Okay, I'll give it back tomorrow! Did you kill my sister? - the goblin asked the fool.
The fool laughs. The devil's wife gives him signs, and he laughs.
The next morning the fool went behind the hill and shouted from there:
- Hey! Unleash your bear-dog, let it tear me apart too!
The goblin let the dog out, but it didn’t come.
- He will kill me, master!
“He doesn’t have a single knife or spear in his yaranga!”
The dog returned from halfway, and the owner sent him again:
- Go tear the fool apart!
The dog ran up to the fool. The fool hit her with the head of a whale and killed her. He ripped open his stomach with a spear, and there were his children. A fool raises children, and they come to life in his hands.
The fool brings the children and asks the mother for a deer rib and to shake the snow off their clothes.
Mother swears:
- Take it yourself!
“Give me a lot of ribs here, mother.”
- Why didn’t the goblin kill you? Let him kill you instead of the children! - the old woman shouts.
- Don’t say that! - The fool shows his mother. - These are my children!
And the old people rejoiced at their grandchildren.
The goblin's wife came out into the yard, saw the goblin, turned her to the right side, and she came to life. The goblin's wife told what happened and how the goblin killed all her nephews. The little goblin began to cry.
The goblin came home, heard his sister crying and asked:
- Who revived you?
- Your good wife. Why did you kill the children? It would be better for me to never live in the world.
And the goblin became good, and never harmed anyone again.
