A long time ago, in time immemorial, an evil, despicable witch lived on earth. The sorceress had a stepdaughter - a quiet, hard-working and very beautiful woman.
The sorceress did not like her stepdaughter, she constantly scolded her and tormented her with backbreaking work. And she, no matter what, is still just as beautiful and pretty. He will speak - as if a lark will sing, and smile - as if he will illuminate everything around with a clear sun. Everyone liked the beauty, everyone loved her. But this only angered the stepmother even more, and she decided to destroy her stepdaughter at any cost.
One day, in the dead of midnight, the sorceress rushed from nowhere on her iron ball, woke up the sleeping girl and said:
- Run to the river, I want to drink some fresh water! The girl got out of bed, took the buckets with the rocker and went to the river.
“You went, beauty, but we’ll see if you come back,” the sorceress thinks to herself.
The night was clear and frosty. The full moon was shining from the sky, the snow crunched underfoot.
Admiring the moonlight, the girl went down to the ice hole. She took the buckets off the yoke, bent down to scoop up water, and when she straightened up, she recoiled in horror: terrible witches surrounded her on all sides. They rushed around her on brooms and balls, stretched out their bony hands, and clicked their iron teeth.
In fear, the girl closed her eyes, took the buckets on the yoke and hurried home. Not so! The witches do not lag behind her a single step, block the road, stretch out terrible hands from all sides, and are about to tear her to pieces.
The girl looks around in despair, but there is not a soul around, only one lonely moon shining from the sky.
- Don’t let me perish, clear month! - the girl begged. The moon heard the girl’s plea, shone even stronger and, using its rays, lifted the girl with buckets and a rocker towards her. Now the witches could no longer reach her.
Since then, on clear nights on the full moon, a girl with a rocker on her shoulders has been seen. Take a closer look and you'll definitely see it.
