One day three sisters went into the forest to buy strawberries. While picking strawberries, they got lost.
They walked and walked and came to one house. And there lived the witch Wuver-kuva.
The girls entered the house and fell asleep from fatigue.
Wuver-kuva has arrived. She caught the girls and locked them in a closet.
“Now I’ll eat them,” she thought. Wuver-kuva tried the girls' fingers with her teeth: she checked whether they were fat or not. No, girls are not yet fit to be eaten.
She began to feed them intensively. I fed them only nuts.
Three days later, she tried the girls' fingers with her teeth. I tried my older sister’s fingers - they became a little softer, and the middle sister’s fingers also became softer. Wuver-kuva tried the fingers of the youngest - only bones.
And the youngest of the sisters was quick-witted. Instead of fingers, she put bones into the witch Wuver-kuve's mouth.
Wuver-kuva had no idea; in fact, she considered her skinny and bony. She fed and fed the girls, and two of them finally gained weight and gained fat.
She sat her older sister on a shovel, pushed her into the oven, fried her, and then ate her.
Afterwards, she began to intensively feed her middle and younger sisters. I tried my middle sister's finger. “Wow, we can eat,” she thought and took her away to eat. She sat her on a shovel and pushed her into the oven.
Now only the youngest sister remains. The younger one continued to put bones into the witch’s mouth, although she herself had grown stronger, plumper, and gained fat.
The wuwer-kuva tried her fingers. "What is this? Is there any way she can't gain fat?" - she thought.
She started feeding her again, tried her fingers, and they were just as bony. While she was waiting for the girl to get fat, she became really hungry.
“No matter how much we feed you, you’re still the same, why can’t you gain fat?” says Wuver-kuva. “There’s no more patience. I’ll eat you!”
Wuver-kuva took the youngest girl to the hut and prepared to fry her in the oven.
- Sit on the shovel! - Wuver-kuva says to the girl.
The girl twirled around the shovel this way and that.
“I don’t know how,” says the girl. - Grandma, how do you sit on a shovel? Show yourself how to sit down!
- Sit down like that! - said the witch and sat down on the shovel. As soon as Wuver-kuva sat down on the shovel, the girl grabbed the shovel and pushed the witch into the oven. There she fried and died.
The girl left the house and left. Then she soon came out onto the road leading home. And not far from here was their house.
This is how the youngest of the three sisters escaped from the witch Wuver-kuva. She was the smallest, but quick-witted. The fairy tale is gone, and I am here.
