Gadzana Pot

by
Gadzana Pot
Enlight

One day Gadzan was asked to perform a service at the funeral of a provincial landowner. Until then, he had never seen high-born and noble gentlemen and therefore was very nervous.

When the ceremony began, Gadzan was sweating with excitement.

Returning from the ceremony, he gathered his students.

Gadzan admitted that he was not worthy to be a teacher, that he lacked the equal treatment of fame and obscurity that he enjoyed in the secluded temple. Gazan then resigned his duties and became a student of another Zen master.

Eight years later he returned to his former students, enlightened.
