Fox and partridge

Fox and partridge

Once a fox met a gray partridge at the edge of the forest and asked:

“Tell me, my dear, how do you manage to sleep during the day?”

- How? Yes, very simple. I hide my head under my wing and sleep peacefully. Look!

And so that the fox could understand her better, she hid her head under her wing. The fox's eyes lit up. She rushed to the partridge, grabbed it by the wing and rushed away.

She runs past the river, the washerwomen saw her and started shouting:

- Look! Look! There's a fox carrying a partridge in his teeth!

The partridge heard the woman's screams and quietly said to the fox:

- What impudent people here! And aren’t they ashamed of poking their nose into other people’s affairs?

“But that’s true,” thought the fox. “What do they care?” - and unclenched her teeth for a moment in order to thoroughly scold the washerwomen. But before she had time to utter a word, a partridge escaped from her and flew onto an oak branch.

The fox looked at the partridge and muttered through his teeth - Eh! You should never chat in vain! And the partridge, grinning, echoes her:

- Yes! And going to bed at the wrong time is also not a good idea.
