A hungry fox was running through the forest. Suddenly she noticed a partridge on a tree. The partridge got scared and screamed. The fox pretended to be surprised: I never thought that partridges scream with their eyes.
- Why with the eyes? - the partridge was offended. “I scream like everyone else: can’t you see how my beak opens?”
- It only seems to you. Come down to the ground, I will cover your eyes, and you will be convinced that I am right: no matter how much you open your beak, there will be no scream.
“Won’t you eat me?” - the partridge asked cautiously.
- What are you talking about, I took an oath last summer: not to touch the partridges, if I break the oath, I’ll die on the spot.
The partridge wanted to prove that she was right; she believed the fox and descended from the tree to the ground. And the fox was just waiting for this and immediately grabbed her with his teeth!
The partridge wailed:
- I’m lost, stupid, how can you trust a fox? And then, turning to the fox, she said in a gentle voice:
“What got into your mouth is my own fault.” But since this has happened and I still have to die, I’ll tell you one secret. I know a wonderful prayer, if you repeat it after me, then my meat will last you for a whole year. And the prayer is very short: “Oh Allah, may there be no end to the partridge.”
As soon as the fox opened his mouth to repeat the prayer, the partridge freed itself and immediately flew up the tree.
