The Fox and the Partridge decided to burn the grass to catch mice.
The partridge said to the fox:
“Let’s do this: you hide in the thickets of grass over there, and I’ll set it on fire from the other edge.”
The fox found a deep hole in the thickets of grass and hid in it. The partridge set fire to the grass and, when the fire went out, asked:
- Fox, where are you? Didn't the fire burn you?
“No,” answered Lisa. Then the Fox said to the Partridge:
“Now let’s go to another place, and I’ll set the grass on fire, and you’ll hide.”
The partridge hid in the thick grass.
The fox set fire to the grass on one side and asked:
- Partridge, aren’t you hot?
“No, friend,” answered Partridge.
Then the Fox ran, set fire to the grass around her and asked:
- Partridge, aren’t you hot?
But Partridge was silent. She was roasted in the fire.
Then the Fox grabbed her, put her in a bag and carried her to her home.
