Two sisters went to the tundra to hunt for haddock. They took and took berries, suddenly the younger sister said:
- Look, the ball is falling from the sky!
“Nothing is falling, you better take a berry, otherwise there won’t be any berries in winter.”
And the ball is very close.
The younger one got scared, hid under a mound, and the ball fell near her older sister and became a god.
-Are you alone? - God asked.
The girl looked around and saw that her little sister was gone.
- One.
- I saw two. - No, I'm alone.
“Come to me,” said God.
- I won't go.
Then God pulled out a large, curved knife and began to sharpen it on a stone. The girl got scared and said:
- Okay. Go ahead, show the way. - No, go ahead.
They come to the hills. The god's yaranga is made from a whole rock. God asks:
- What did you eat at home?
— Deer, bear and seal meat.
God went hunting, killed a wild deer, and began to feed the girl. The girl is eating and getting better. She ate the deer, God went hunting again and said:
“Don’t touch anything here without me, and most importantly, don’t look at anything here.”
He came out of the yaranga and said:
- Close the hill! - and the hill closed.
It became dark in the yaranga. The girl lit a fire, took a torch, began to examine the yaranga and saw many skeletons. Each skeleton had a living head. The girl was scared. One head tells her:
- You will have the same thing as us. He will feed you until you get fat, and then he will gnaw your bones!
The girl began to cry. At this time, a fox looked into the chimney. The girl was delighted and shouted:
- Oh, a living, living fox! Lisa said:
- Yes, I'm alive!
The girl asked the fox to help her get out of the yaranga.
Lisa says:
- Say the same words, and the hill will open.
That's what the girl did. And the hill opened. A girl jumped out of the yaranga and said to the fox:
- Let's get out of here as quickly as possible!
- Take a stone, a branch and a piece of ice! - the fox ordered.
They run and run, and they see that God is catching up with them.
- Throw the stone behind you! - said the fox. The girl threw a stone, and a huge hill appeared behind her.
God began to climb the hill, and the fox and the girl ran on. They run and run, and the chase is close again. The girl threw a branch, and the forest became behind them.
They reached the fox's yaranga. Lisa says:
- Run home, I'll delay the pursuit.
The girl ran home. The fox threw a piece of ice - it became a river. God ran up to the river and shouted to the fox:
- Help me cross the river!
- Find a shell and swim across it. God found a bivalve shell. He sat in it and plunged into the water, soaking his pants.
He comes to the fox. The fox is smeared with ash, lies and groans:
- Please take out the potty! I can't, I'm sick.
-Where should I pour it? - God asked.
- Into the cliff. I'll show you!
The fox wanted to get up, but God said:
- No need. I don't like it when anyone walks behind me.
He went to empty the pot. And the fox follows him.
God looked around and the fox became a branch. God moved on, and the fox followed him again. He approached the edge of the abyss, looked back, and the fox had become a berry.
He bent down, the fox pulled his leg, and the god flew into the abyss.
- Ay, ay! - God shouted, “I’m sorry, I’ll break the pot!”
“I don’t feel sorry for you or the pot!” - answered the fox. So God broke along with the pot.
